Travel Diaries: My Summer in San Francisco

Toddler_Travel_San_Francisco2.jpg

In case you didn’t notice from seeing my adorable two year old in the photo above I spent my summer in San Francisco. Every since I can remembered I’d dreamed of going to California and this summer I had the opportunity to do just that.

Now this trip was not for play but for business. I applied for an internship at my dream Public Relations agency and after months of an extremely competitive application process and three phone interviews I found myself on a plane to San Francisco.

Due to the cost of living in San Francisco as compared to Arkansas my husband and son did not spend the entire summer with me (that’s another story for another time). It was very hard on me emotionally, as I had never been away from my baby boy. However, my husband was brave enough to drive all the way from Arkansas to San Francisco and stay with me for a week. I thought I’d share some of the places we visited.

Golden Gate Bridge

This one I’m sure you were probably expecting being that it’s one of the most visited places in the country but seriously you have to go. There are several places in the city you can go to if you want a great view. My husband actually found this tiny park area not far from North Beach. This spot was on all of our bucket lists.

Giants Stadium

I am by no means a sports fan but everyone should have an experience like the one I had at the Giants stadium. Even if you aren’t into baseball the food is delicious (garlic fries are a must) and they have tons of places to take awesome photos as you can see in the picture above. They also have a beer garden, Coca-cola slide and Trolley.

I went during the dog days of summer and got to see a ton of ADORABLE dogs dressed (and painted) in the giants gear and colors. Cutest thing you’ll ever see! So if you go make sure to go in June when all the four-legged fans are there. (Here is a link if you want to see some of the dogs from this past summer).

Ghirardelli Square

If you have a sweet tooth like I do then you must go to Ghirardelli Square and get a sundae. The Ghirardelli shop also offers tons of chocolates and other sweets and views of the bay. My two year old definitely enjoyed this stop.

Because I spent a great majority of time working I didn’t get to go to a few of the places on this list but my husband and son did some exploring of their own. Below are a few of their favorite stops.

Coit Tower

This beauty is located in Telegraph hill (just a few blocks away from my job so I saw it everyday but never actually climbed the stairs to the top LOL). This was one of the first stops my husband and son took since it was so close to the office. The tower offers great views of the city.

Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharfs

Definitely the most “Touristy” thing on this list. You can find tons of restaurants, museums and attractions here and it’s always full of life. My husband and son took a cable car down to Fishermans Wharf. If you like seafood you are in for a treat, if not there are a number of other options from street cars to In n Out burger (you must try their vanilla malt!). You can also find a ton of seals hanging out in this area.

So while my son and husband were out having all of the fun I was in the office.

*I will be sharing my internship experience in a later post*

Regardless of whether I was in the office or exploring the city it’s amazing to be able to share these experiences and continue to stay optimistic about where life will take me next. It was easy to fall in love with San Francisco and their are still a ton of great places  I didn’t get to visit, which is the best excuse to go back and I definitely plan to.

Until my next adventure, ciao!

5 Perfect Movies for Halloween!

Halloween is on a Monday but we all know everyone will be celebrating this weekend. If you’re like me and will most likely be on your couch (even if you love Halloween as much as I do) here are some great movies perfect for the occasion.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

this-is-halloween

A Halloween classic I’d say. This movie is family friendly and can be a great one to watch with friends or family who scare easily. I mean who doesn’t love Jack Skellington?

The Conjuring 2

the-conjuring-2

Okay so this one is not for the faint of heart. I’m a true horror movie fanatic and this one caught me off guard a couple of times. You’ve probably all heard of the first one but I’d say this one is just as scary. So if you’re looking for a movie to watch with a group of people I’d definitely suggest this one but be prepared.

Coraline

This is one of my favorite movies in general but I think it’s perfect for Halloween because it just sets a creepy aura (especially with the music). This one is perfect for those who want to get into the Halloween spirit but don’t want to be scared to death. I’d say its one you could watch with the family as well.

Insidious 2

insidious-2

YES! Okay I just had to add this one. The first one was great if you haven’t seen it you should but this one is incredible. I’ve never enjoyed a second movie more than the first one until I saw this movie. This movie scared me and I’m usually not the type to get freaked out by Ghost. I’d suggest watching this one with friends if you scare easily. I’d also suggest that you watch the first one beforehand to get a better understanding of the plot but the storyline is amazing and this actress (pictured above) did a great job of freaking me out!

Corpse Bride

corpse-bride

I just LOVE this movie. I wouldn’t say its super scary but it’s definitely creepy and it’s family friendly so if you have little ones like I do it’s perfect for a Halloween slumber party. I also really like the music, so many Halloween feels!

So there you have it! If you haven’t seen the movies listed above watch one and let me know how you like it?

Also comment with some of your Halloween favorites!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

My Favorite TV Shows!

I’m one of those people who can easily find my tribe simple based on what type of shows they enjoy. So lets see how well we will get along (lol). Below are a few of my favorite shows so check them out and comment if any of yours is on this list. We’ll get together sometime and watch!

THE WALKING DEAD

The_Walking_Dead_6.jpg

My husband got me into this show a couple of years ago and I binged watch the first 3 seasons when I was pregnant, abroad and on bedrest! I’m extremely invested now (if you don’t believe me check my Twitter)

WARNING SPOILERS BELOW!

Now I had to mention this one because the season 7 premiere was Sunday night and it broke my heart. I cried REAL tears! Never in my life have I been as emotionally invested in any show which explains why this one is at the top of my list. I’m still in shock, R.I.P to two of my favorite characters Glenn and Abraham! That was gruesome but I can’t stop watching. You guys may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten and poor Maggie. I just can’t!

American Horror Story

american-horror-story So I was a die hard fan when this one came out because I love horror movies and this was like taking a good horror movie and creating a show. I also really like how its inspired by true events, makes it even creepier.

This show is unique in that each season has a different theme. Now I don’t think I’ve been as invested in the show since Jessica Lange left but I’ve been surprised by how well Lady Gaga has been! My favorite season is still Season 3 mostly because I was obsessed with Angela Bassett’s role as voodoo queen in that season (and her hair in that season was giving me life!)

The latest season is quite different than those before it but still interesting and still creepy. If you don’t like scary, don’t watch it but I promise you’re missing out!

SCREAM QUEENS

scream-queens_0

So Ryan Murphy did the world a favor and created a hilarious sort of parody inspired tv show for those too weak to handle American Horror Story. Sarcasm is my second language and I love that this show speaks to that part of my soul.

It’s not really scary but more of old school slasher inspired but more fun of course. The cast may come off like they are just terrible actors if you take the show too seriously but I assure you they are wonderful and I just LOVE the Chanels!

What can I say I guess I’m basic.

ONCE UPON A TIME

the-return-of-the-evil-queen-opens-up-a-lot-of-possibilities-for-once-upon-a-time-season-6

I was REALLY into this show a few years ago before my husband introduced me to The Walking Dead. I grew up really adoring fairytales and I love the real world twist this show brings to those classic stories. I am so excited every time they introduce a new fairytale character and must I say the actors are incredible!

I’ve gotten a little behind on this show lately but thanks to Netflix I’ll catch up!

SUPERNATURAL

supernaturalI’m going to be honest I was going to put Pretty Little Liars on this list instead but they really let me down with that big “A” reveal last year so I’m sticking with Supernatural.

My husband got me into this show before any of those previously mentioned. I used to binge watch it religiously and I just LOVE Sam and Dean Winchester. I’m very superstitious and YES I believe in ghosts, demons, aliens all of that (not kidding I seriously do, don’t judge me) so this show really sparked my interest.

I’ll admit its been a couple of months since I’ve watched it but I promise when I get some down time I’ll jump back in head first!

So do you see any of YOUR favorite shows above? If so comment and let me know!

Til then I’ll be on my couch watching Netflix!
